Vote by Mail

Pennsylvania voters have the option to vote by mail, without the excuse that was needed for a traditional absentee ballot. Under new state laws, you can vote by mail right from your own home. If you have a PA driver’s license or a state-issued photo ID, you can apply online.

You can also download and print a paper application here.

NOTE, if you plan to vote using an absentee or mail-in ballot in the 2024 GENERAL PRIMARY held on 04/23/2024, your completed application must be received in the county office by 5:00 PM on 04/16/2024. The deadline to return your voted absentee or mail-in ballot is 8:00 PM on 04/23/2024.Find below, a step-by-step guide on how to apply for your mail-in ballot:

Find below, a step-by-step guide on how to apply for your mail-in ballot:

  1. Visit the online application website
  2. On the website you will be asked three questions
    1. Are you a military or civilian overseas voter?
    2. Will you be absent from your home on Election Day
    3. Do you have a physical illness or disability? (*If you click yes to any of these questions you will be directed to apply for a traditional absentee ballot. In-order-to apply for the new mail-in ballot, you must select “No” for all three questions)
  3. You will then be directed to complete the application, which will ask for your name, date of birth, driver’s license or photo ID number, address and the address to which you’d like the ballot sent.
  4. Annual Mail-in Ballot Request
*After completing the application, you will be asked if you would like to receive an annual mail-in ballot application. By clicking yes, you will automatically be mailed an application for every election.

Please note that this does not mean you will receive an actual ballot every election automatically, just the application to request one.

You will be able to track the status of your application through the Department of State website here, or you can call the Delaware County Bureau of Elections at (610) 891-4673 with specific questions.

Once you have received your ballot from the Board of Elections, you can either personally hand-deliver it or mail it back to the Board of Elections where it must be received no later than 8:00pm on Primary Election Day (4/23/2024)
